Dr. Weidong Wu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Chemical Engineering at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). He earned his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Mississippi in 2008. Dr. Wu currently serves as the Graduate Program Coordinator for the Civil Engineering Department. He is actively involved as an editorial board member and reviewer for the Civil Engineering Journal, among others.

Before joining UTC, Dr. Wu gained valuable experience as a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) engineer at an industrial automation and robotics company in Michigan. Prior to pursuing his PhD in the United States, he spent four years working for a leading construction company in Wuhan, China, where he specialized in structural design and construction management.

Dr. Wu's primary research interests encompass computational mechanics, smart infrastructure, innovative construction materials, and data analytics. His research contributions have been published in esteemed SCI and EI journals, as well as presented at leading conferences in the field.

Dr. Wu is passionate about teaching and offers courses in engineering mechanics, structural analysis and design, advanced statistics and experimental design, finite element methods, and innovative civil infrastructure. Additionally, he plays a pivotal role as the Principal Investigator (PI) for a Tennessee Department of Transportation (TN DOT) funded grant and serves as a co-PI on several National Science Foundation (NSF) grants and other TN DOT funded research projects.
