I. Eligibility
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens;
2. Be friendly to China, with no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules of the host institution;
3. Be physically and mentally healthy, with excellent academic and behavioral performance;
4. Be committed to Chinese language education and related work;
5. Be aged between 16 and 35 (as of September 1, 2025). The age limit is extended to 45 for in-service Chinese language teachers.
II. Scholarship Categories and Application Requirements
1. One-Year Study Program (Starting September 2025; duration: 11 months)
(1)For International Chinese Language Education: HSK Level 3 score of 270, with HSKK score required;
For Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, or Chinese Philosophy: HSK Level 4 score of 180 and HSKK (Intermediate Level) score of 60;
For General Chinese Language Studies: HSK Level 3 score of 210; priority will be given to applicants who also provide an HSKK score.
(2)Joint Program with CLEC
In collaboration with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), Changsha University of Science and Technology offers an additional 10 scholarship slots under the One-Year Study Program.
Admission in September 2024, for 11 months;
HSK Level 3 score of 210 required; priority given to those with an HSKK score.
2. One-Semester Study Program (Starting September 2025 or March 2026; duration: 5 months)
For International Chinese Language Education, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, or Chinese Philosophy: HSK Level 3 score of 180 and HSKK score required;
For Traditional Chinese Medicine or Taiji Culture: HSK score required; priority given to those who also provide an HSKK score.
3. Four-Week Study Program (Starting July or December 2025; duration: 4 weeks)
For Chinese Language Study, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Taiji Culture, or Chinese Language + Homestay Program: HSK score required.
Group applications (10–15 participants per group) must be organized by Recommending Institutions. The study plan must be confirmed with the university and submitted to CLEC for approval in advance.(Contact: admission@csust.edu.cn)
4. Online Programs
(1) One-Year Online Chinese Language Study: Starts in March or September each year. HSK Level 3 score of 180 generally required; priority given to those with HSKK score.
(2) One-Semester Online Chinese Language Study: Starts in March or September each year. HSK score required (no specific level or score needed).
(3) Special Online Training Programs: Please contact us via email or phone for details (Email: admission@csust.edu.cn).
III. Application Procedure
1.Log in to the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website (http://www.chinese.cn) → Choose Host Institution: Changsha University of Science and Technology (Code: 10536) → Submit application materials online → Track application progress, review results, and final admission status → Confirm enrollment → Register at the university within the period specified in the Admission Letter.
2.Log in to the CSUST International Student Service Platform (https://csust.17gz.org/member/login.do), register an account, and submit your application materials online.

V. Scholarship Coverage and Standards
The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, living allowance (excluding four-week programs), and comprehensive medical insurance.
Monthly living allowance: RMB 2,500 for One-Year, and One-Semester program students.
VI. Required Application Materials
1. A scanned copy of the passport photo page;
2. HSK/HSKK score reports (within the two-year validity period);
3. A reference letter from the head of the recommending institution;
4. Highest diploma or certificate of expected graduation, official academic transcripts, Foreigner Physical Examination Form, and certificate of no criminal record;
5. In-service Chinese language teachers must provide proof of employment and a reference letter from the employer;
6. Applicants under 18 must submit a notarized authorization letter from their legal guardian in China.
VII. Special Notes
1. In-service Chinese language teachers and winners of the “International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate” in Chinese Bridge competitions are welcome to apply to our university. Please contact us if you encounter any issues during the application process.
2. Applicants who have received the One-Semester or One-Year Scholarship within the past three years are in principle not eligible to apply again.
3. The scholarship will be revoked if the applicant fails the pre-enrollment physical exam, withdraws midway, fails to register on time without prior permission, or suspends study without authorization.
