I. Applicant Eligibility

1.Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.

2.Applicants should abide by Chinese laws, maintain good physical and mental health, and have excellent academic and personal conduct.

3.Academic qualifications and age requirements:

•For master’s degree programs: A bachelor’s degree is required, and the applicant must be under 35 years old.

•For doctoral degree programs: A master’s degree is required, and the applicant must be under 40 years old.

4.Language proficiency requirements:

Chinese-taught programs:

Master’s and doctoral applicants must achieve at least 180 points in Level 4 of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK4) at the time of application.

English-taught programs:

Applicants must achieve at least TOEFL 68, IELTS 5.5, or Duolingo 85.

Applicants from English-speaking countries (native or official language is English) are exempt from submitting proof of English proficiency.

II. Scholarship Coverage

1. Exemption from registration, tuition, and accommodation fees.

2. Living allowance provided.

3. Comprehensive medical insurance coverage.

III. Program Details

VI. Application Procedure

1.Online Registration:

Visit Changsha University of Science and Technology’s international student application platform at https://csust.17gz.org/member/login.do to create an account and upload required documents.

Required documents:

•Valid passport (valid for at least one year; applicants in China must also submit a valid residence permit page).

•Notarized highest academic qualification (original scanned copy and translation):

If still studying, a certificate of enrollment issued by the current institution (indicating the expected graduation date) must also be provided.

•Documents obtained outside China must be notarized, while those obtained in China require only scanned copies.

•Transcripts of the most recent academic degree (original scanned copy and translation).

•Study and research proposal (key evaluation point):

Written in Chinese for Chinese-taught programs or in English for English-taught programs.

Minimum of 1,000 words, covering introduction, research question, literature review, methodology, expected outcomes, and references, etc.

•Academic recommendation letters (key evaluation point):

Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors, written in Chinese or English.

•Physical Examination Form for Foreigners:

Completed in English, valid for six months. (Blank form available in Attachment 2).

•Non-criminal record certificate:

Issued by local public security authorities, valid within six months of application submission.

•Language proficiency certificates:

HSK Level 4 (minimum 180 points) for Chinese-taught programs.

TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo test results for English-taught programs (exempt for native/official English-speaking countries).

•Other supporting documents: Academic achievements, cultural or sports activity awards.

2.Document Review:

The university will review submitted documents, and eligible applicants will pass the preliminary screening.

3.Application Fee Payment:

Applicants who pass the preliminary screening must pay a non-refundable application fee of RMB 500.

4.Academic Review:

The university will conduct an academic review of applicants who pass the preliminary screening.

5.Admission Assessment:

Applicants who pass the academic review must attend an admission assessment, including language and foundational academic skills evaluation.

6.Final Application Submission:

After receiving the pre-admission notice, applicants must register on the China Scholarship Council’s online application platform (http://www.campuschina.org), create an account, and complete the online application.

Notes:

1.All documents must be in Chinese or English; certificates and transcripts must be notarized.

2.The application fee is non-refundable regardless of admission status.

3.Do not mail hard copies of documents to the university.

4.After applying, regularly check the application system and registered email for updates.
